Two-Factor Authentication

If you have trouble linking your Microsoft Exchange/Outlook account to Harbor with your normal password, it may be because of Two-Factor Authentication. This means when you log into your e-mail, Microsoft asks you to confirm on your mobile device.

Unfortunately, mobile device authentication won't work for Harbor. Instead, you'll need to create an "app-specific password" for Harbor to log into the account. The link above explains how to do it, or you can follow the instructions below.

Steps to Generate and Use App-Specific Password for Microsoft Exchange

  1. Log into your Outlook webmail app
  2. Click the settings button in the top right

  3. You should see a pop-up like this(you might need to click "View all Outlook Settings" at the bottom of the menu). Navigate to manage "two-step verification"

  4. Hopefully, that opens up this page for you like this that you can click "create new app pasword" and the it will give you a password you can use to try to log in.

  5. Use this password in the Harbor e-mail account link process, instead of your normal e-mail password
